About Us

South Australian School and Services for Vision Impaired (SASSVI) is the only specialist school for students with a vision impairment currently operating in Australia. SASSVI prides itself on providing educational expertise to students and children living with significant vision impairment.

We are committed to improving the outcomes for students who are blind or vision impaired across South Australia by providing specialist teaching, professional learning, and accessible resources and technologies.

In 2022 students from the South Australian School for Vision Impaired (SASSVI) collaborated with First Nations dancer practitioner Adrianne Semmens and Audio Describer Eliza Lovell on this unique project. Specialist school for primary aged students who are blind or vision impaired
A Statewide Support Service supporting students who are blind or vision impaired in government and non-government mainstream sites across South Australia
A specialist support unit for secondary students at Charles Campbell College
An Accessible Format Production unit producing braille and accessible resources
Access Technology specialist resources including software, hardware and technology for students who are blind or vision impaired
Professional development for staff and parents supporting students who are blind or vision impaired across the state.

SASSVI aims at offering all our students a broad and balanced curriculum that provides rewarding and stimulating activities to prepare them for the best social and cultural life.

SA School and Services for Vision Impaired acknowledges the Kaurna people, the traditional owners of the lands on which we work and meet upon here today.
